Ng Si Ming

Si Ming has a diverse dispute resolution practice with roots in international arbitration. He has significant experience with conduct of arbitrations under the major arbitral rules adopted in the region and has acted for clients in arbitration related litigation brought before the Singapore courts.

Building on his core experience in international arbitration, Si Ming has developed a practice encompassing multiple forms of dispute resolution with a focus on the  infrastructure, construction and energy sector. Apart from arbitral tribunals, he has represented clients from the infrastructure, construction and energy sector in proceedings before the Singapore courts, statutory adjudication, statutory determination, and mediation.

In addition to the infrastructure, construction and energy sector, Si Ming has advised and represented clients from a broad spectrum of industries and specialised fields ranging from finance to Web3. His clients are primarily based in Singapore and region; and include, statutory authorities, large multinational conglomerates, high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, developers and contractors, and financial institutions and funds.

He has also advised and represented clients who are faced with restructuring and insolvency issues in Singapore, including some of the largest liquidations in recent history.

Si Ming has been recognised in Asian Legal Business Asia 40 under 40 List 2023, with a client commending  him for "his composure, structured thinking process, work ethic" and "excellant representation". 

Si Ming is a member of the Young SIAC (YSIAC) Committee formed under the auspices of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). He also served as an assessor appointed by the Ministry of Law to determine applications for relief made under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020. Additionally, Si Ming is a member of the teaching faculty of the Part B Preparatory Course of the Singapore Bar Examinations.

Case Highlights

  • Represented a Singapore statutory board in an ad hoc arbitration in Singapore relating to a services agreement.

  • Acted for the owner and developer in an international arbitration under the SIAC Rules arising out of the construction of an educational campus in Malaysia.

  • Represented a non-fungible token (NFT) developer in proceedings relating to the sale of NFTs.

  • Advised a financial institution in the judicial management and subsequent liquidation of Hin Leong Trading.

  • Acted for the defendant in two related applications to set aside arbitral awards (CNQ v CNR [2021] SGHC 287 & CNQ v CNR [2022] SGHC 267).
